Position: Utilities Director

Description:   

 

Responsibilities of a Utilties Director include:

The Village of Granville, Ohio is accepting applications for a full time Utilities Director.  This position will be a key member of the Village’s management team.  Responsibilities include the operation, maintenance and supervision of the water treatment and distribution system and the wastewater treatment and collection system.  This position is responsible for ensuring that residents have safe and clean water and that both plants comply with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations, policies and standards.

This position requires labor and technical ability to assist with the operation of the wastewater collection system, wastewater treatment, water treatment and water distribution system. Successful candidate should be self-motivated, have strong mechanical skills, be able to problem solve, communicate effectively with staff and residents and provide effective supervision of staff.  This position occasionally requires working weekends and variable hours to ensure that the plants operate within all required guidelines.  The Utilities Director is responsible to respond in the event of emergencies that arise within his/her areas of responsibility. The Utilities Director also serves the Operator of Record for the Wastewater plant. 

Compensation:

The range of pay is $42,663 to $65,274. Benefits include PERS pension plan, uniforms, and group health insurance.

Minimum requirements include an Associates Degree, valid Ohio driver’s license with good driving record and hold a valid Ohio Class III Wastewater License.

Position: Granville Ambassador (at the Granville Welcome Center)

Description:  

Granville Ambassadors are friendly, knowledgeable, and energetic representatives of the Granville community who work at the Granville Welcome Center.  The purpose of an Ambassador is to extend a warm greeting to visitors, to answer questions and provide information in a friendly and helpful manner, and to assist the visitors in planning for their time in Granville

Responsibilities of a Granville Ambassador include:

  • Greeting all visitors with a friendly smile
  • Assisting visitors by answering questions and handling requests for information
  • Learning and reading about the lcoal community including hisotry, local lore, and areas of interest
  • Attending local events and visiting area attractions to become familiar with Granville
Compensation:

This is a volunteer, unpaid position.  Granville Ambassadors are asked to volunteer at least two hours per month in the Granville Welcome Center.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications for this position include:

  • A basic knowledge of the local Granville community
  • A willingness to acquire the local knowledge to do the job well
  • The ability to work cooperatively with others
  • The ability to provide simple directions from a map or to draw a map
  • The ability to orally communicate information and directions clearly and simply
  • The ability to listen and understand questions, problems, and situations
  • The ability to maintain a positive attitude and enthusiastic demeanor
  • The willingness to commit to a minimum of 24-hours of volunteer time annually
  • A willinigness to commit to an average shift of two to four hours monthly
  • The minimum age requirement for volunteers is 16 years of age
