Position:   Part-time Dispatcher

Granville Ohio is located in Licking County, approximately 30 miles east of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Granville was chosen by Ohio Magazine as a "Best Hometown" in 2009.   Granville is a historic community, settled in 1805, and hosts Denison University, a nationally renowned private liberal arts university. 3500 residents call Granville home with an additional 2200 Denison students nine months of the year. Neighborhood preservation is a priority to maintain appreciating home values. The Granville Exempted Village School District is the highest academic rated school district in the Columbus area. Granville hosts as vibrant downtown and is a regional destination.


The community seeks a professional and responsible person to answer calls, monitor emergency service radios and alarms, dispatch police assistance as needed and perform court clerical tasks. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limites to:  

  • Maintains constant contact with on-duty officers, determines which officer is nearest to emergency scene and dispatches officer, determines number of units to dispatch, dispatches officers as needed to emergency or crime scenes based on established priorities.
  • Logs information regarding calls on computer, uses Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) to check driver's licenses, vehicle registration status and status of persons with regard to outstanding warrants, uses state system to send messages to other agencies regarding stolen vehicles or property or missing/wanted persons, enters arrest warrants and deletes them from the system, releases criminal history information when appropriates.
  • Enters information into state and national crime information computer systems.
  • Monitor police, fire, and EMS radios and alarms.
  • Assists with photographing suspects, tagging evidence, and writing reports, may testify in court, maintains log and stores found property.
  • Assists officers in taking, writing and typing case reports, files reports, suspicious vehicles checks and line checks









Minimum Requirements:  
  • Graduation from high school and at least one year of experience in the use of communications equipment or computers; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides knowledge, abilities and skills.

Village of Granville Employment Application 


Position: Granville Ambassador (at the Granville Welcome Center)


Granville Ambassadors are friendly, knowledgeable, and energetic representatives of the Granville community who work at the Granville Welcome Center.  The purpose of an Ambassador is to extend a warm greeting to visitors, to answer questions and provide information in a friendly and helpful manner, and to assist the visitors in planning for their time in Granville

Responsibilities of a Granville Ambassador include:

  • Greeting all visitors with a friendly smile
  • Assisting visitors by answering questions and handling requests for information
  • Learning and reading about the lcoal community including hisotry, local lore, and areas of interest
  • Attending local events and visiting area attractions to become familiar with Granville

This is a volunteer, unpaid position.  Granville Ambassadors are asked to volunteer at least two hours per month in the Granville Welcome Center.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications for this position include:

  • A basic knowledge of the local Granville community
  • A willingness to acquire the local knowledge to do the job well
  • The ability to work cooperatively with others
  • The ability to provide simple directions from a map or to draw a map
  • The ability to orally communicate information and directions clearly and simply
  • The ability to listen and understand questions, problems, and situations
  • The ability to maintain a positive attitude and enthusiastic demeanor
  • The willingness to commit to a minimum of 24-hours of volunteer time annually
  • A willinigness to commit to an average shift of two to four hours monthly
  • The minimum age requirement for volunteers is 16 years of age
