Did You Know? Left Turns into Parking Spaces are Prohibited in the Downtown Business District
Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2:29PM For safety reasons, particularly because of traffic congestion and the lack of visibility when vehicles are trying to back from angled parking spaces, motor vehicles are prohibited from making left turns for the purpose of parking on the opposite side of the street in the downtown business district.
Many of us are guilty of this minor misdemeanor offense, but few of us know that it is against the law. Signs are posted at the mid street crosswalk on East Broadway. So the next time you are in the Village and spot available parking on the other side of the street, please do not be tempted. Making that left turn is illegal. So now you know.
