RESOLUTION NO.  09-38

TO ESTABLISH A TRAFFIC CALMING POLICY AND PROGRAM FOR THE VILLAGE OF GRANVILLE 

WHEREAS, the Village periodically receives complaints about the speed of traffic in residential neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, it is a goal of the Village of Granville, where speeding, accidents, and non-local traffic are a threat to the safety of local streets, to calm traffic to provide a safer environment for children, pedestrians, and motorists; and

WHEREAS, the Village's traffic engineer has recommended the adoption of a traffic calming policy and program in order to more effectively evaluate the needs for traffic calming solutions in residential neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, the establishment of a traffic calming policy and program will provide a process through which residents may partner with the Village to evaluate traffic concerns in their neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, that evaluation process will indicate whether a neighborhood is truly in need of traffic calming or whether other solutions may be more appropriate.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Village of Granville, Ohio that:

Section 1. The Granville Traffic Calming Policy and Program, a copy of which is attached hereto and marked as Exhibit "A", is hereby adopted.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.
