Minutes of September 10, 2008


Members Present: Meg Ginther, Dick Kinsley, Steve Trumbull, Lois Foreman-Wernet, Marilyn Sundin. 

Guests Present: None 

Meeting started: 7:00 PM 

Treasurer's report: Marilyn shared a copy of the new brochure for Licking County Arts (grant # 07-08), and she has submitted receipts for payment. She will check with Molly on our current availability of funds.

Steve suggested, and all agreed, that Steve should invite Molly to an upcoming meeting so that we can discuss budget procedures for 2009. 

Old Business: 

Steve is continuing to pursue how vacancies on the commission will be filled. 

Meg has been working on logo issues to provide for artists and organizations on our website, Lois will provide Meg with the CDs that contain all the logo variations that Randy Robertson designed for us. 

New Business: 

Grant Request #08-10 Meg moved to give the requested $500 to the "Creative Expressions Art Show" at Bryn Du Mansion. Marilyn seconded.

The motion passed unanimously. 

Dick led a discussion about the proposed new structure of the Granville Recreation Commission and how that might affect the arts commission. He suggested we consider opportunities and/or issues that the proposed umbrella organization (with smaller, now independent groups such as Granville Fellowship) might offer.

Minutes of July 16, 2008 - Draft


Members Present: Meg Ginther, Dick Kinsley, Steve Trumbull, Kyle Morgan, Marilyn Sundin. 

Guests Present: None 

Meeting started: 7:05 PM 

Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the June 16th meeting were approved as submitted. 

Treasurer’s report: Marilyn reported that she turned in receipts and requests for payment for grant #08-6 for $436.25 for the Garden Gala, under budget by $63.75.  The total amount approved is $3,600.00, year-to-date. 

Old Business:

Steve is putting the word about to locate strolling musicians for the Great Granville Picnic, and will see that an article is placed in the Sentinel.  He has spoken to some musicians and will continue to do so.  Steve will be checking on how vacancies on the commission will be filled and also some budget issues.  Carol Whitt continues to work on the website, and members should review it at and send comments to Steve. 

New Business

Grant request # 08-9:  Carol Whitt requests up to $500.00 for the "Outsider Art" activity at the Great Granville Picnic.  The main activity would be a group banner, for which art materials and supplies are needed.  Money is also requested for compensation for two artists for their prep time and for their teaching time.  An overstuffed picnic basket would also be constructed.   Dick moved and Kyle seconded to approve grant # 08-9 to provide up to $500 for the project; the motion passed unanimously. 

There was discussion about the artists using grant money giving credit to GAC, and Dick suggested that we have the image of the GAC logo readily available on our website so that artists can add a statement such as "Sponsored in part by the Granville Arts Commission" to appropriate items.
