WHEREAS, the use of engine brakes or jake brakes by heavy highway vehicles, such as semis or tractor trailer rigs, is unnecessarily disturbing the peace and tranquility of the Village, and;
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens to prohibit and/or regulate the use of such engine brakes or jake brakes.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of Granville, Ohio, that:
Section I: Section 509.09 of the Granville ordinances is hereby amended by adding the following section to subparagraph (a):
(5) Engine brakes or jake brakes. The use of engine brakes or jake brakes by trucks (e.g., by semis or tractor trailer rigs).
Section II: Wherefore, this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, safety, health, morals, and welfare of the citizens of this Village and shall become effective immediately upon passage.
