WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), through the Transportation Enhancement (TE) Program, provides funds to local governments for projects that enhance the transportation experience by improving the cultural, historic, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of transportation infrastructure; and

WHEREAS, bicycle and pedestrian projects, including bike lanes, bike paths, and pedestrian bridges, are potentially eligible for TE funding; and

WHEREAS, the first step in the funding process is to submit a Letter of Interest for a project that appears to qualify for TE funding; and

WHEREAS, ODOT will review the Letters of Interest that are received, will determine which of the projects are potentially eligible for TE funding, and will issue an invitation for those applicants to submit full applications; and

WHEREAS, the submission of a Letter of Interest does not bind the Village to submit a full application or to proceed with the project; and

WHEREAS, the Village staff has identified a potential project for which enough information is available to support a Letter of Interest and has recommended that the Village Council authorize the submittal of a Letter of Interest for that project.
