RESOLUTION NO. 2010-31
A RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE AND AUTHORIZE THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE FINAL SCHOOL TRAVEL PLAN FOR THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROGRAM THROUGH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
WHEREAS, the United States Congress has reserved funds to encourage primary and middle school students to walk and bicycle to school by assisting local public authorities with the cost of improvements necessary for the safe use by non-motorized transportation; and
WHEREAS, Safe Routes to School funds are administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation, and awarded to local units of government selected for funding by the Ohio Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Village Staff and the Granville Exempted Village School District Staff have developed a School Travel Plan for the elementary and intermediate schools; and
WHEREAS, the Granville Safe Routes to School, School Travel Plan, once adopted by the Ohio Department of Transportation, would allow for the Village of Granville, Granville Township and Granville Exempted Village School District to receive federal funding for school related transportation activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Granville, Ohio that:
Section I: The School Travel Plan, which is attached hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby approved and endorsed by the Granville Village Council.
Section II: The Village Manager is hereby authorized and directed to submit the final School Travel Plan for certification by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Section III: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
