Resolution No. 2011-20

 

A RESOLUTION, AS A ONE-TIME EVENT, AUTHORIZING FULL TIME EMPLOYEES THE ABILITY TO VOLUNTAIRLY DONATE VACATION LEAVE HOURS AND/OR SICK LEAVE HOURS TO A CERTAIN FULL TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE VILLAGE OF GRANVILLE WHO WILL EXHAUST ALL ACCUMULATED SICK AND VACATION LEAVE DUE TO A SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION.  

Whereas, one certain village employee has exhausted nearly all sick and vacation leave due to a serious medical condition and; 

Whereas, said employee is expected to be unable to return to work for approximately three more weeks; and 

Whereas, said employee may have to undergo surgery sometime in April, 2011 which will require additional time off. 

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the Village of Granville, Ohio that: 

Section 1:  All fulltime employees of the Village of Granville who have accrued two hundred and forty (240) hours of sick leave may voluntarily elect to donate a portion of their accrued sick leave to said employee. Donations must be made in eight (8) hour increments and under no circumstances shall donors accrued sick leave balance be reduced to an amount below two hundred and forty hours as a result of such donation. 

Section 2: All fulltime employees of the Village of Granville who have accrued vacation leave may voluntarily elect to donate a portion of their accrued vacation leave in eight (8) hour increments to said employee.   

Section 3:  It is the intent and position of the Village that this donation is a one-time event, for a certain employee and is not intended to create a new policy or act as a precedent for subsequent circumstances and that this Resolution is intended to address this one-time event for this certain employee. 

Section 4:  Employees must submit a written authorization for transfer of sick and/or vacation leave hours to the Finance Director by April 15, 2011. All such hours donated will be deducted from the donor employee’s balance and any donation will not be considered as sick leave usage by the donor employee. 

Section 5: Donated sick leave hours not used by the certain employee will be reallocated to the donor employees on a formula determined by the Finance Director. 

Section 6: This resolution shall take effect and be in full force upon the earliest period allowed by law.
