RESOLUTION NO. 2013-04

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT A LETTER OF INTEREST TO THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING THROUGH THE TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM FOR THE CHERRY VALLEY ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT ON BEHALF OF THE VILLAGE OF GRANVILLE, CITY OF NEWARK AND LICKING COUNTY AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY (LCATS)

 

WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), through the Transportation Alternative (TA) Program, provides funds to local governments for projects that enhance the transportation experience by improving the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of transportation infrastructure; and 

WHEREAS, the proposed multi-use pathway, pedestrian bridge extension with fencing, and lighting are potentially eligible for TA funding; and 

WHEREAS, the first step in the funding process is to submit a Letter of Interest for a project which appears to qualify for TA funding; and 

WHEREAS, ODOT will review the Letters of Interest received, will determine which of the projects are potentially eligible for TA funding, and will issue an invitation to those agencies who qualify to submit their full applications; and 

WHEREAS, the submission of a Letter of Interest does not guarantee the Village of Granville, City of Newark and LCATS will be asked to submit a full application or to proceed with the project; and

WHEREAS, the Village staff has identified this potential project for which enough information is available to support a Letter of Interest and recommends that the Village Council authorize the submittal of a Letter of Interest for said project. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF GRANVILLE, OHIO, that:

Section 1. The Village Manager is hereby authorized to submit a Letter of Interest to the Ohio Department of Transportation for funding through the Transportation Alternative Program for a proposed multi-use pathway, pedestrian bridge extension with fencing, and lighting on behalf of the Village of Granville, City of Newark and Licking County Area Transportation Study.                                                                       

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.
