RESOLUTION NO.  2013-38 

A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO DR. DALE T. KNOBEL FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GRANVILLE COMMUNITY

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Dale T. Knobel has been a resident of Granville since 1998 and contributed immensely to the betterment of the community; and 

WHEREAS, Dr. Knobel has been President of Denison University since 1998 as well as Professor of History, President of the Denison University Research Foundation and Middleton House; and 

WHEREAS, Dr. Knobel’s tenure as Denison’s President has contributed to the Village by reaching and surpassing important milestones for Denison in enrollment, advancement, expanded facilities, improving the extraordinary quality of Denison faculty and students and continually improving Denison’s mission to remain a top-tier world renown institution of residential liberal arts and sciences; and 

WHEREAS, Dr. Knobel has been a Trustee of the board for The Works: Ohio Museum of History, Art & Technology since 2006; and 

WHEREAS, he was a trustee on The Midland Theater board from 2000 to 2010; and 

WHEREAS, Dr. Knobel has also written several articles about Denison, local and community history including “Unveiling Granville’s Attic,” “Forward,” “Our Town:  Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” and “The Importance of Village Life in Early Nineteenth-Century Ohio;” and 

WHEREAS, as the expanded and renovated  bells ring out in Swasey Chapel, Dr. Knobel will be remembered for not only what he brought to Denison University, but the Village of Granville as well. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF GRANVILLE, OHIO, that: 

Section 1: Dr. Dale T. Knobel is hereby commended for his efforts, leadership, commitment, and dedication to the betterment of our community. 

Section 2: By this Resolution, we hereby offer to Dr. Knobel our sincere gratitude for his gracious contributions of time, knowledge, and expertise in serving the community and our fellow citizens. 

Section 3: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.

 Passed this 5th day of June, 2013.
