Granville Tree and Landscape Commission
Work Session Friday, March 15, 2013
Attending: Don Hostetter, Lynne Kishler, Don Pheneger, Jim Siegel
Don Hostetter reported that St. Luke’s will be applying to council to add an addition to the south end of the church building. Drainage from most of the church roof will likely hook into the storm sewer line at some point under South Main Street. Village Manager Steve Stilwell feels we should not plant along the east side of the park until this storm sewer line is dug. Discussion followed about possible drain line routes, and the curbing along the west wall of the church. There are nine public parking spaces currently behind the church that do not belong to Park National Bank. Layton Excavating Company will be re-sculpting the parking lot grade. The pedestrian pathway between the Granville Historical Society and the church is scheduled to finish June 1st. We are encouraged to use drawings to identify the sections of the park we are working on to keep the church and the village informed during all the construction.
We opened returned bids for the plantings in the NW corner of Opera House Park that were received from Albyn’s and Klauder. Ellinger has decided to decline bidding on the job. As today is the 15th, additional bids may yet come in the mail.
Jim Siegel reminded us that Friesinger’s, who has inspected the Opera House fencing, does not want to paint the fence; we will need to look into other contractors. The benches should be ready mid-April.
