Granville Tree and Landscape Commission
Friday work session – Friday, October 18, 2013
Present: Don Hostetter, Don Pheneger, Lynne Kishler, Dick Mortensen, Jim Siegel
Returned bids for planting the commission’s list of trees for fall 2013 were received from three landscape nurseries within the requested ten days and were opened. They were as follows:
Albyn’s (Mike Flood) $13,963
Because the tree budget is set at $10,000, we took the lowest quote, Klauder, and trimmed down our list of trees to meet the budgeted amount. We will wait until 2014 to plant the one tulip($279) and one pin oak ($249)planned for Newark-Granville Rd. Don Hostetter asked Jurgen Pape if the Japanese Pagoda trees ($777 for three) requested for the Bryn Du mansion could also be planted in 2014, and he agreed. A Sugar maple, two Prairiefire crabapples, and the two Kousa dogwoods will remain on the planting list for the mansion property. Also cut from the list was a tree lilac ($255) for N. Plum St. This brought the amount to $9895. Don Hostetter will contact John Klauder about the changes and will also send letters to Albyn’s and Fackler’s.
