Granville Tree and Landscape Commission
Friday work session – Friday, October 25, 2013
Present: Don Hostetter, Dick Mortensen, Don Pheneger, Lynne Kishler, Terry Hopkins, Jim Siegel
Terry Hopkins reviewed our list of proposed trees and requested we reconsider species for the tree planned for 209 East Elm. After discussion, we decided on American Hornbeam. For 133 South Pearl, he feels that the porch roof of the house is so close to the sidewalk that a tree with a more narrow mature shape would work better. We changed that selection from elms to two Little Leaf Lindens. The homeowner at 129 North Plum St. contacted Don H. to request a tree where one was removed. We will re-plant with a Serviceberry in that site. Terry did like our choice of American elm for 432 North Granger St. as that site is very open and can accommodate a mature elm. He added that another nearby tree will be removed in the future and another elm could go in there in future plantings.
We re-totaled the dollar amount, and Don H. will be meeting with John Klauder soon to go over the final list. Don Pheneger, who has been updating our tree list throughout the selection process, will make the changes.
