Granville Tree and Landscape Commission
Friday work session – February 28, 2014
Attending – Don Hostetter, Lynne Kishler, Don Pheneger, Jim Siegel, Lesa Miller
Lesa Miller, Granville Recreation District, met with us to discuss planting a tree with the T & L Commission again this year to celebrate Earth Day, which is Monday, April 21st. Arbor Day, and our ceremony at the intermediate school, will be Friday, April 25th. We settled on Sunday, April 27th at
2:00 pm. Their intent is to plant at Raccoon Valley Park, in the west section that doesn’t flood. The GRC has a tree map/plan for the park; most trees planted there so far are maples and a flowering variety. The GRC would like to add another tree to the dog park adjacent to Wildwood Park.
We discussed our community seminar March 11th at 7 pm at Bryn Du. Frits Rizor will be speaking on “Sustainable Practices for the Landscape.“ We asked Mollie Prasher to design a flyer to post around town. We are co-hosting this with Denison, so she will incorporate both our logo and theirs. Jim Siegel suggested “Mr. Wilson” from WTVN’s Saturday morning show as a future seminar speaker.
It should be possible to go ahead this year with a final planting for the NE corner of Opera House Park.
