Friday work session – May 16, 2014
Attending: Don Hostetter, Don Pheneger, Lynne Kishler, Jim Siegel
Council members Jackie O’Keefe, Michelle Lerner, Village Manager Steve Stilwell, Service Director Terry Hopkins, Don Hostetter, and North Pearl resident Dan Bellman met on Wednesday, May 14th and walked North Pearl Street examining the trees considered for removal. The list has been reduced to 17 trees at the most. The large Sycamore on the NE corner of Summit and North Pearl will be trimmed only over North Pearl. Terry Hopkins will consult with Windstream, etc. concerning how far from the ground, if at all, the other lines will be moved up. There should be 43’ actual feet of pole above the ground. Ten feet of clearance includes the space to the street to get equipment trucks close to the curb. AEP will donate up to $200 per tree for removal and replacement. We are bound by ordinance as to what species can go back into those sites.
John Klauder has been advised about the two American Hornbeams on North Granger St. that need to be replaced.
Discussion followed about the declining health of the old Christmas tree in the island. Jim Siegel will look into this. Legend Lawn has been doing the work in the islands. What chemicals have they been using?
Lynne Kishler mentioned the fence surrounding Opera House Park needs to be painted.
We walked to the park to examine the fence and then the Christmas tree.
