Granville Tree and Landscape Commission
Friday work session
September 23, 2016
Attending: Don Hostetter, Lynne Kishler, Don Pheneger, Jim Siegel
Final arrangements were made for the tree dedication at Bryn Du on September 27th at 3:00. Lynne will contact Craig McDonald at The Sentinel. Athena will be the person in charge that day at the mansion. Don Hostetter has the cookies, napkins, and trays for the reception. He and Mollie Prasher have designed and printed the programs, which highlight Jim Siegel’s contributions to the tree commission. Mike Flood of Albyn’s, Jurgen Pape (Bryn Du Mansion), and Mayor Melissa Hartfield will speak at the dedication.
Don H. has prepared a memo to Debi Walker outlining the list of plants and trees proposed for the Middleton Senior Living complex that we have some concerns about.
Don H. has turned in the list of attendees from our commission for the Fall Urban Forestry Conference.
Concerning the request for additional seasonal help for Linda Reynolds, that will likely come under Terry Hopkins’s seasonal work crew. Terry has said the work could be contracted out. Linda Reynolds has estimated 75 hours of work over the months May – October. Additional work at Opera House Park would add to that number. We estimate it will be over 100 hours of work.
John Klauder & Associates will install the bricks in the hardscape in Opera House Park. He provided replacement stones under the wrought iron fencing a couple years ago and we will contact him about the need for additional stones it will take to close the west entrance than the park.
Some discussion followed about the fall tree planting site list.
